Microbiology Department


Laboratory department:

  • Haematology

Blood tests should be done in the morning hours.

  • Biochemical

For biochemical tests, a 10-12 hour fasting period and avoidance of alcohol is required.

A light meal the night before is recommended. Water is allowed before the blood collection.

  • Hormonology

Hormonal tests are carried out in consultation with either the attending physician or our laboratory.

  • Microbiological

Urinalysis - urine culture

Urine is collected in a sterile urine collector and the first morning urine is recommended.

Before collection in the sterile container, cleaning of the external genitalia with soap and water is required.

Urine culture should be done before taking antibiotic treatment, otherwise please inform our laboratory staff.

  • Andrology

Spermogram

There should be sexual abstinence 3-5 days before the sample is taken (in consultation with your doctor). After taking the sample, immediately transport it within 20-30 minutes to the laboratory.

The sample shall be collected in a sterile urine collector.

Sperm cultures

No preparation needed. The sample is collected in a sterile urine collector.

  • Molecular biology

In our laboratory, tests are carried out using molecular methods.

Ultrasounds


MAMMOGRAPHY PREPARATION

The test should be done on the 8th to 12th day of your cycle.

BREAST ULTRASOUND

On the day of the examination you must have with you , PROOF MASTOGRAPHY of the last year (conclusion and films).

ABDOMINAL AORTA - RENAL VESSELS - ILIAC TRIPLEX

The patient should have fasted for (6) hours before the examination.

THYROID - CERVICAL - SOFT TISSUE ULTRASOUND

No preparation needed.

UPPER ABDOMINAL ULTRASOUND

The patient should have fasted for (6) hours before the examination.

The day before, avoid eating foods such as legumes, vegetables, fruits, dairy products and carbonated drinks.

LOWER ABDOMINAL ULTRASOUND

The patient should drink (1 to 1.5) hour before the appointment (1) litre of water (not hastily)

You should not urinate before the test.

TRIPLEX OF VEINS / LOWER EXTREMITY ARTERIES / CAROTID ARTERIES - VERTEBRAL ARTERIES / SCROTUM

No preparation needed.

Bring your old exams with you.

Department of Computed Tomography


PREPARATION FOR CT CORONARY ANGIOGRAPHY

Coronary angiography is an important procedure, and it is vital that the patient is properly prepared!

  1. Arrive 40 minutes before your appointment to avoid stress and rush.
  2. Preparation with B Blocker (Lopresor 100mg) 2 days before the test, half a pill in the morning. If you have Bronchial Asthma, check with your cardiologist.
  3. Fasting on the day of the test. If the examination is at noon, a light breakfast is allowed until 09:00. No coffee or black tea!
  4. Pills for glucose (e.g. Glucophage) should be avoided the day before and on the day of the test.
  5. Bring your previous tests, such as your previous CT scan and all your cardiac tests.
  6. Have with you one Omnipaque 350 200ml or two 100ml or Ultravist 370/200ml.
  7. If you have a fever or severe cough, cancel your appointment.

It is important to be well prepared to ensure you get the best possible care. Please share this information with anyone you think needs it!

 

UPPER ABDOMINAL CT PREPARATION

The patient should have fasted for (5) hours before the examination.

Two (2) hours before the test, put (2) caps of gastrographine in (2) glasses of water and drink them.

Half (30') hour before the test you put (2) glasses of water (2) caps of gastrographine medicine and drink them.

Keep the contrast agent with you.

PREPARATION OF UPPER AND LOWER ABDOMINAL CT SCAN OF THE RETROPERITONEAL SPACE

The patient should have fasted for (5) hours before the examination.

The patient should drink one (1) glass of water with one (1) cap of gastrographine in the following dosage:

  • The night before at 10:00pm -> 2 glasses of water (from a medicine cap)
  • Two (2) hours before the test -> 2 glasses of water (from a medicine cap )
  • Half (30') hour before the test -> 2 glasses of water (from a medicine cap)

One (1) hour before the test you should drink enough water (about 4-5 glasses) without urinating.

Keep the contrast agent with you.

Cardiology department


STRESS TEST

The patient should be in a fasted state (4) hours before the test without coffee or tea.

Avoid smoking as much as possible.

Consult your doctor for advice on whether or not to take medication.

Bring previous tests (films or findings) with you if available.

HEART TRIPLEX

No preparation needed.

 ECG

No preparation needed.

 

Department of Nuclear


MYOCARDIAL SCINTIGRAPHY AT REST AND IN FATIGUE

The duration of the test is approximately 3-5 hours

The patient should be well hydrated

The patient must be fasting 4 hours before the test, earlier he/she can eat a light meal (e.g. milk with breadcrumbs)

One (1) day before the test you should NOT drink (coffee, tea, coke, chocolate and anything containing caffeine)

If you are taking a blood sugar pill, you should not take it on the day of the test

If he takes insulin he will not do so on the day of the test

If you have a lung condition for which you are being treated, you should tell

If taking theophylline medicines must be discontinued 2 days

If he or she is taking heart medicines, you should consult your doctor about whether or not to stop taking them.

HAVE previous CARDIOLOGICAL EXAMINATIONS (scintigraphy, coronary angiography or angioplasty)
