Siemens, Magnetom Vida 3T MRI scanner

Magnetom Vida 3T- The first 3T MRI scanner with biometric technology (BioMatrix Technology)

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)is a non-invasive imaging method that combines the properties of the magnetic field and radio frequencies to compose detailed images of the organs of our body. In combination with the application of radio frequencies, the field transiently displaces the hydrogen atoms in our body, which upon returning to their original position emit radio frequencies. The signal is received by special computers that process it and convert it into an image. Because no radiation is used, the method is extremely safe.

MDmedical offers to its patients the most modern and unique in Greece Siemens 3 Tesla Magnetom Vida MRI scanner of biometric technology for personalized examination.

The MRI scanner is a cylinder-shaped machine, open at both ends, with the SIEMENS MAGNETOM VIDA 3T having a cylinder diameter of 70 cm, inside which the magnetic field is developed. Noteworthy is the ability of this biometric magnet to adapt to the somatometrics of each patient and to his/her heart and respiratory rate (i.e. to any kind of movement), which limits errors due to movement and helps patients with special needs such as claustrophobic patients.

Advantages of the Siemens 3 Tesla Magnetom Vida:

-Quicker and in some exams up to 50%

-Larger bore width resulting in greater comfort as the patient's head is outside the machine

-Reduced noise during the examination.

-Greater discriminatory ability even in free-breathing and dynamic tests. (liver, heart, chest)

- New multi-channel coils for excellent image quality and additional acceleration of the examination

-Larger range of tests.

-Angiographic studies in patients who cannot be given contrast media

-Better image quality in subjects with metal implants

-Easy and rapid positioning ofthe patient for any type of patient

-Advanced TWIST technique, dynamic breast study for more accurate staging of the disease

- UNIQUE with 514 diffusion directions with ultra-sensitive diffusion spectrum imaging

Whole-body MRI

Tests carried out on the Siemens Magnetom Vida 3T

  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging in all anatomical areas of the body (Brain, Hypophysis, Visceral Skull, Neck, Chest, Upper and Lower Abdomen, Spine, Joints, Bones and Soft Tissue)
  • Magnetic angiography of the brain and body.
  • Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRspectroscopy): It is a modern method for assessing the metabolic activity of the brain. It allows us to characterize pathological foci such as tumors, demyelinating foci, inflammation and other diseases.
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR Tractography -DTI): It is the three-dimensional imaging of the neural pathways of the brain, a basic tool for the preoperative assessment of patients suffering from lesions near important brain centers.
  • Functional brain MRI (FMRI): a non-invasive method of brain mapping that studies centers of critical human functions such as speech and memory. It is also suitable for children.
  • Cardiac MRI: The mobility and morphology of the heart walls, the perfusion and viability of the heart walls and congenital heart diseases are studied.
  • MRI to measure Fe deposition in the liver parenchyma and myocardium: It is useful in patients with thalassemia to assess the effectiveness of desensitization therapy
  • MRI to measure fat fraction (FatFraction) and the degree of liver stenosis
  • Magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP): uses special sequences to visualise the intra- and extrahepatic bile ducts, the pancreatic duct and its branches. It can be used both to investigate biliary tree lithiasis and to investigate possible neoplasms.
  • Magnetic Urography: Based on static and dynamic imaging of the renal secretory and excretory systems. When used in conjunction with dynamic scanning after administration of a contrast agent, it provides a non-invasive analysis of the perfusion, concentration and excretion of each kidney
  • Magnetic Heterography: It is useful for the regular monitoring of patients with idiopathic inflammatory bowel disease and Crohn's disease in particular, having the advantage of not using X-rays. It can also be used in the diagnosis of small bowel tumours.
  • Magnetic Mammography: It is indicated for screening (complementary to digital mammography) of women at high risk for breast neoplasia such as women with a gene burden or an individual/family history of breast cancer. It is also used for preoperative staging to assess the extent of the disease, to search for a primary focus and to investigate doubtful findings on mammography, ultrasound and/or clinical examination.
  • Multiparametric Prostate MRI: It is an important tool in the detection and characterization of neoplastic lesions of the prostate, which cannot be seen on simple MRI of the lower abdomen, the accurate staging of the disease, the planning of treatment and the detection of recurrence. It is particularly recommended in patients with a high PSA value and a negative prostate biopsy.
  • Rectal MRI: A special protocol is used that involves thin, high-resolution sections in the area of interest. It is useful for detailed initial local staging of rectal cancer.
