Siemens Magnetom Vida 3T MRI Scanner

MD Medical Group offers its patients the most advanced and unique in Greece 3 Tesla Magnetom Vida Siemens MRI scanner with biometric technology (BioMatrix Technology) for personalized examination. Its applications for specialized examinations of the head and body make it a valuable diagnostic tool for a wide range of conditions under investigation.

The MRI scanner is a cylindrical machine, open at both ends, with the SIEMENS MAGNETOM VIDA 3T having a cylinder diameter of 70 cm, within which the magnetic field is developed. Notably, this biometric magnet can adapt to each patient’s body metrics and their cardiac and respiratory frequency (i.e., any type of movement), which reduces motion artifacts and helps patients with special needs, such as those who are claustrophobic.

Advantages of the 3 Tesla Magnetom Vida Siemens

  • Faster and in some examinations up to 50% faster
  • Larger bore width, resulting in greater comfort as the patient’s head is outside the machine
  • Reduced noise during the examination
  • Greater resolution even in free-breathing examinations and dynamic studies (liver, heart, chest)
  • New multichannel coils for excellent image quality and additional examination acceleration
  • Wider range of examinations
  • Angiographic studies in patients who cannot be given contrast agents
  • Better image quality in patients with metal implants
  • Easy and quick positioning of the patient for any type of examination
  • Advanced TWIST technique for dynamic breast studies for more accurate disease staging
  • The ONLY one with 514 diffusion directions with the ultra-sensitive diffusion spectrum imaging
  • Whole-body MRI

Examinations performed with the Siemens Magnetom Vida 3T

  • MRI of all anatomical areas of the body (Brain, Pituitary, Visceral Skull, Neck, Chest, Upper and Lower Abdomen, Spine, Joints, Bones and Soft Tissues)
  • Magnetic Angiography of the brain and body
  • Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRSpectroscopy): A modern method for assessing the metabolic activity of the brain. It allows the characterization of pathological foci such as tumors, demyelinating foci, inflammations and other conditions.
  • Magnetic Tractography (MR Tractography – DTI): The three-dimensional imaging of the brain’s neural pathways, a key tool for preoperative assessment of patients with lesions near important brain centers.
  • Functional MRI (FMRI): A non-invasive brain mapping method that studies centers critical for human functions such as speech and memory. It is also suitable for children.
  • MRI for measuring iron deposition in the liver parenchyma and myocardium: Useful for patients with thalassemia to assess the effectiveness of chelation therapy.
  • MRI for measuring fat fraction and the degree of liver steatosis.
  • Magnetic Cholangiopancreatography (MRCP): Uses special sequences to image the intra- and extrahepatic bile ducts, pancreatic duct and their branches. It can be used to investigate bile duct stones and potential neoplasms.
  • Magnetic Urography: Based on static and dynamic imaging of the renal excretory system. When used with dynamic scanning after contrast administration, it provides a non-invasive analysis of renal perfusion, concentration and excretion.
  • Magnetic Enterography: Useful for regular monitoring of patients with inflammatory bowel disease, especially Crohn’s disease, without using X-rays. It can also diagnose small intestine tumors.
  • Magnetic Mammography: Recommended for preventive screening (in addition to digital mammography) for high-risk women, such as those with genetic predisposition or personal/family history of breast cancer. It is also used for preoperative staging to assess disease extent, search for primary lesions and investigate ambiguous findings in mammography, ultrasound, or clinical examination.
  • Multiparametric MRI of the Prostate: A crucial tool for identifying and characterizing neoplastic lesions of the prostate, which are not visible in simple lower abdomen MRI. It aids in accurate disease staging, treatment planning and recurrence detection. It is particularly recommended for patients with high PSA levels and negative prostate biopsy.
  • MRI of the Rectum: Uses a special protocol with high-resolution thin slices in the area of interest. It is useful for detailed initial local staging of rectal cancer.

Special Clinical Application: DIR Sequence

The Siemens Magnetom Vida 3T MRI scanner features the Double Inversion Recovery (DIR) sequence, which is used to more clearly highlight infratentorial or brainstem lesions and spinal cord lesions that are not revealed with conventional T2 and FLAIR sequences.
